Kjal Forsetha, Baron of Geda
Kjal Forsetha arrived to Chybisa in 708 TR with a band of eight warriors. The general assumption is that he was part of a much larger Ivinian force that attempted to invade Melderyn, before being wrecked in a catastrophic storm off Cape Renda. Whatever the circumstances, when he arrived into Chybisa, he and his warriors were hired by the then Baron Ulaed Wasal of Geda. In that time, Kjal developed a reputation as an able warrior, and was noted for his extraordinary strength. He was also a womaniser, and is rumoured to have had dalliances with the daughters of nobles.
In 713 TR, Ulaed, drunk, made a wager with Kjal. If Kjal could lift Ulaed's horse, Ulaed would give Kjal his barony. Kjal then proceeded to lift the horse and King Verlid determined that the wager would stand.
In 714 TR, Kjal married Baldyn Rolin, the daughter of a knight from Burzyn. They had a son. She died of a fever in 716 TR.
Kjal's first wife - Ivinian tradition is polygamous - Elsebeth arrived from Orbaal in 714 TR, too. More detail on her can be found in her own cast entry. She brought with her a boy, Tharri, who she said was Kjal's son, born shortly after he departed Orbaal.
Kjal's age is something of a mystery. He tells people numbers ranging between 50 and 70, seemingly depending entirely on his current whim.
Kjal has proven to be a more intelligent ruler than many might previously have expected. He is noted to rule with a light touch, and prefers to lead by example.
Being Ivinian, he inevitably experiences certain cultural clashes with traditional Chybisan culture. In particular, his Sarajinian beliefs are quite at odds with those Laranian beliefs held by most of the realm's nobility. While he has a notably good relationship with the king, his relationship with his vassals is known to be mixed. He is particularly at odds with the Abbot of Namadees. He does at least have a good relationship with most of the guild members resident in Geda.
Kjal supports a small Sarajinian clerical clan in Geda and worships in the chapel which they maintain. He and some of his retainers are the only Sarajinian adherents in Chybisa.
