Hi all. We are going to put the game on hiatus for now. When designing it, much of the focus was on major figures, portrayed by players rather than being NPCs as is more often the case in MU*s, driving the game's story and world-changing events. We wanted to remove grind and so-called timegates which have long been a source of complaints about the design of RPIs and adjacent games. However, I think that I have misunderstood what people want. The game has by now reached a broad enough audience in a few venues, but the reception has been one of passing interest at best.
Thank you all for your interest so far. I apologise for switching off the lights quite so soon. We could attempt to pivot to something different right now, but we have not made preparations for what would be quite a different style of game.
We will look at how we can retool what we have, if we can.
Finally, I would say that if anyone has ideas they would like to try in a game of their own, FutureMUD has been very easy to work with. It has far and away the simplest set-up process of any MUD engine going, which is so often a hurdle, and building with it is more straightforward than anything else I know of.
